S03 · ONGOING SERIES

In Conversation

The opening article for a series that makes room for independent questions, lived expertise and productive difference.

VIAMOF began with a question: why should eyewear remain one fixed expression?

A question opened the design. We believe questions should continue to open the Journal.

In Conversation is a space for voices that do not belong to VIAMOF alone.

Why Conversation Belongs Here

Design is shaped by more than the person who draws the object.

It is read by the optician who understands fit, the retailer who hears hesitation, the maker who knows where precision becomes difficult, the artist who sees another cultural meaning and the wearer who brings the object into daily life.

Conversation allows those perspectives to remain visible.

An Independent Voice

The purpose of this series is not to turn every guest into a VIAMOF endorsement.

A useful conversation can include agreement, uncertainty and productive difference. The guest’s point of view should remain recognisably their own.

We will edit for clarity, not conformity.

Questions We Want to Keep Open

How does an object become personal?

When does versatility create freedom, and when does it create complexity?

What do people need to understand before they are ready to interact? How can an evolving system remain precise, useful and emotionally clear?

Different guests will take these questions in different directions. That is the value of the series.

A Record of Exchange

Each article will preserve the context of the conversation, the guest’s expertise and the boundaries of what can be shared.

Quotes will remain connected to the person who said them. Questions will not be rewritten as claims. The final piece will show where the exchange led, not force it into a predetermined conclusion.

Another Way of Seeing

To unframe yourself is to create room for another perspective.

In Conversation brings that idea into the Journal—one independent voice, one open question and one new way of seeing at a time.
